Doug and Alyssa escaped injury - by the grace of God. We always say the roads around Uganda are trecherous. At 6:50am on 4 June, Doug was taking Alyssa to school. Turning to take a back road in to Kampala, a speeding vehicle that was passing traffic slammed into us broadside. He pushed us 8 meters sideways, into another car. Miraculously NOBODY was injured. Alyssa and Doug walked away with only stiff necks - a small price! We had to have doors and windows and fenders replaced, but thankfully we have comprehensive insurance: the individual who hit us has no insurance and no money for this type of thing. He also was in an Army truck, and the Ministry of Defense here never pays for accidents that its people cause - yes, Uganda is different. In the end, we're ok. But if you've been in a major accident and can walk away, then you know, like us, you can only say "thank you Lord, thank you Lord."
Thank you, Lord! |
